Mission of the Mary Burlie “Black Angel” Society
The Mary Burlie “Black Angel” Society carries forward the legacy of Mary Burlie, a woman remembered for her compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to uplifting those around her. Known as the “Black Angel” for her tireless service to families and children, the Society’s mission is to empower communities, nurture belonging, and inspire hope by creating opportunities that honour her spirit of care and unity.
Little Champs Community Sports Initiative
Through the Friends of Mary Burlie Park, the Society proudly supports the Little Champs Community Sports program — a grassroots initiative designed to connect children to the joy of sports. Twice a week, children gather to play soccer, football, ball hockey, and multisport activities in a safe, welcoming environment. With both non‑competitive and competitive options, Little Champs ensures that every child — whether they seek fun, friendship, or a chance to challenge themselves — has a place to grow.
The program also offers mentorship opportunities, inviting youth and adults to share their passion for sports and guide the next generation. In the summer, non‑competitive tournaments bring families together for days filled with laughter, play, and community pride.
