Purpose: Learn of our past, celebrate our now and build our future
Objectives:
To provide for the education and enlightenment of Canadians about
Canadian winter history, outdoor winter activities, and winter art forms and
the promotion of the physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing of
Canadians particularly during the winter months through:
a. Public presentation and demonstrations of outdoor winter activities
b. Public presentations and demonstrations of winter survival skills
c. Public presentations of First Nations oral histories and traditions
d. Encouragement of public participation in outdoor winter activities
e. Public presentations of outdoor art especially winter art
f. Education of immigrants and “new” Canadians about winter
activities and winter coping mechanisms

The Silver Skate Festival is a free 10-day family-oriented festival that combines culture, art, education, sport, and recreation. We invite everyone to rediscover the joy of that first childhood snowfall or discover that joy for the first time.
