Formerly the Edmonton Sport Council, Sport Edmonton is a non-profit society that stands for leadership, education, advocacy, support & development of sport and active recreation in our city.

Legacy

We will collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure national and international sport events that occur in Edmonton, leave a legacy behind for the community.

Educate

We will continue to share valuable information and be a trusted resource to sport organizations and the sporting community in this city.

Advocate

We will bring all the sport organization voices together and speak to community partners, government bodies, and corporate stakeholders as a unified body.

Develop & Support

We will provide resources towards developing community driven, grassroots sport initiatives, and recreational events across the city of Edmonton.

What We Do

Society Objectives

To advance the physical literacy journey of all Edmontonians through quality sport and active recreation experiences and environments.

To catalyze new connections, collaborations and partnerships to advance physical literacy of Edmontonians, and participation in sport and active recreation.

To foster and develop the recognition of the importance of sport and active recreation in Edmonton.

To advance alignment of the sport and active recreation system in Edmonton.

To facilitate access to expertise, education and training in the areas of physical literacy, sport and active recreation by Edmonton organizations.

To acquire lands, by purchase or otherwise, erect or otherwise provide a building or buildings for administrative purposes and to sell, manage, lease, mortgage and dispose of, or otherwise deal with the property of the Society.

To provide a meeting place for the consideration and discussion of questions affecting the interest of the sport and active recreation community.

To provide all necessary equipment and furniture for carrying on its various objects.

Individual

An individual who resides in Edmonton and has a significant interest in the development of sport, active recreation, or active living in the city.

Organization

A local sport, active recreation, active living or non-profit organization that is directly involved in promoting delivering sport and or health programs and opportunities for Edmonton residents.

Corporate

Any business with a significant interest in promoting sport, active recreation, or active living in Edmonton, but does not promote or meet the criteria for Organization membership.
