Garneau Tennis and Beach Volleyball Club
Garneau Tennis and Beach Volleyball Club (GTBVC) is a seasonal, non-profit organization that is the only clay court club in Edmonton, the oldest continuously running clay court tennis club in Alberta, and the northernmost clay court club in North America. Located in the vibrant area of Garneau on City of Edmonton property with an evergreen lease, the GTBVC currently consists of 7 clay courts and 3 beach volleyball sands courts. We have approximately 300 members that play tennis and/or beach volleyball but also allow any individual(s) to drop in to play. As one of the most affordable clubs (including City owned recreation centers), to play at during the spring, summer and fall, we are trying to make sport as inclusive and accessible as possible. We work with other community organizations to help foster sport and recreation including but not limited to the Edmonton Junior Tennis Society, Garneau Community League and ASPIRE Volleyball. We are reaching a milestone – our Centennial in 2029- and our hope is to raise enough funds to replace our 7 clay courts as they are end of life. We have applied to the City for Heritage/Historic resource and other grants to try to help fund our new courts in time for our Centennial.
