SAFE – Youth and Family Centre

With seasonal basketball leagues and vibrant summer camps, we strive to help young people build confidence, develop teamwork, and gain life skills, all while supporting their physical and mental well-being in a safe and welcoming space. Our mission is simple: to empower young people who face barriers, including racialized, at-risk, and low-income youth in North and Central Edmonton, as well as the growing immigrant community in Southwest Edmonton. We do this by creating opportunities for physical activity, personal growth, and meaningful social connections through sports and recreation. Since 2019, we’ve been running inclusive and structured programs that foster a sense of belonging, provide mentorship, and build resilience for youth aged 12–22. We’re experiencing tremendous growth, starting with 60 kids in our first year to over 250 across all our programs 6 years later.
