Sport Edmonton continues to show it’s ability to enhance community sport within the broader sport ecosystem. In 2026 we’ve increased our impact through strategic initiatives aimed at driving value for our members by connecting them with corporate Edmonton, other community-based organizations like EFCL, and aligning with City of Edmonton priorities.
Event Accelerator Fund
Working with Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels, we’re injecting $40,000 this fall/winter in new funding to power local sport events that deliver economic and community impact, reaching 2,250 combined participants and over 12,000 attendees.
Partnership Program
We’ve developed a turnkey opportunity for corporate Edmonton to support local sport organizations at scale, delivering assets at all Event Accelerator Events through the Sport Edmonton Partnership Program.
Capital Power Summer Legends Program
Delivered through Green Shacks across the city, this program reached 4,000 kids and showed the power of partnership, leveraging City support to engage corporate Edmonton, all while partnering Athletics Alberta and the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL).
Play Where You Live
Through initiatives like our Capital Power Summer Legends program and our upcoming outdoor rink campaign, we’re bringing to life our partnership with EFCL to help kids Play Where They Live.
Downtown Vibrancy
As part of the City’s Downtown Action Plan, we worked with Sport Edmonton Member Image School of Dance to provide free dance programming at O-day’min Park.
Community Legacy
Working with our partners at the City and Explore Edmonton, we’re working with event rightsholders to ensure major events like the 2027 World Junior Hockey Championships and 2028 World Cup of Hockey enrich our community.
