Indigenous Runners Alliance

Indigenous Runners Alliance proudly promotes and advocates for Indigenous Representation in the Running community and strives to provide safe spaces for athletes and opportunities. The Orange Shirt Run/Walk was created not only to honor our little ancestors who did not survive the Residential school era but to also support and stand in solidarity with the survivors who fight every day for healing, truth and justice. Through our running events we aim to raise funds for organizations such as the Orangeshirtday.org as well as local grassroots movements including promoting and supporting Indigenous athletes. Our race in Edmonton the Orange Shirt Day Run/Walk (6th Annual this year) course consists of a combination of pavement and trail run through the beautiful river valley trails along the North Saskatchewan River and includes three distances of 5 & 10 k and an Elder/Kids 2.15 k. Our new event is the Medicine Run Ultra & Relay provides an opportunity for runners who want a longer more intense trail running experience that is Ceremony and Team focused with distances from 12.5k to 100km either as a Relay or Solo!
