Society of the Edmonton Triathlon Academy

The Edmonton Triathlon Academy (ETA) is a youth-focused triathlon development program based in Edmonton, Alberta, founded in 2013 as a legacy of the 2001 Edmonton ITU World Championships, with a mission to use triathlon as a vehicle for building athletic skill, confidence, and life skills in young people. ETA serves a broad age range through a structured development pathway: ETASwimRunFun introduces ages 7–11 to the sport, Intro to Tri lets ages 12–23 sample triathlon while gaining confidence in swim, bike, and run skills and improving overall conditioning, and the Development and Junior Squads (U16–U19) focus on refining technique and developing elite racing ability, complemented by an Age Group Program for athletes 23 and older. What distinguishes ETA is its deep roots in Edmonton’s international triathlon legacy and its partnership with organizations like Do North Events and Triathlon Alberta, its use of iconic local training grounds such as the Kinsmen Sports Centre and the newly opened, world class indoor triathlon training centre within the Coronation Park Sport and Recreastion Centre. Its clear progression model lets athletes move from recreational introduction to competitive, provincial- and national-level racing within a single organization.
